Music School Etiquette

There have been some complaints about Saturday Suzuki student behavior/etiquette. Please adhere to the following:

  • NO RUNNING in the Music School.
  • Food may only be eaten in the hallways, outside in the courtyard, or in the main lobby. There have been food remnants and crumbs found in the studios. There should be no food or drink in the studios (besides water).

HINDEMITH VIOLA SCHEDULE

10/22 Long, Long Ago in G major; Happy Farmer; Hunter's Chorus; Witches' Dance and Handel Bourree (at the end of the class so Emily can leave early); Gossec Gavotte; Minuet 2

11/5 Long, Long Ago review; French Folk Song; Etude; Allegro; O Come Little Children; any pieces from previous class that need review

11/19 dress rehearsal. PLEASE NOTE TIME: 9-10 a.m room 224

11/20 Harvest Concert at TATNALL SCHOOL arrive 12:30 for tuning. Start 1 p.m.

FOR ALL VIOLISTS

I just met with Ms. Jennifer today, and it turns out that the cellists play Long, Long Ago in a different key. So we can play the piece with them, we'll NO LONGER be learning the harmony part the older group class has been working on-- sorry about that. Instead, everyone will play the piece in the key of G, starting on the note G on the D string (third finger). We will go over it in class together.

JUNE SOLO RECITALS DATE CHANGE

Solo Recitals are now on June 5th INSTEAD of June 12th!

SCHEDULE CHANGE 5/21 & 5/14

THE GRADUATION DRESS REHEARSALS HAVE BEEN CHANGED. They are no longer on May 21. Instead they will be on 5/14 (same times as originally scheduled - see master group schedule for times).

Basically, WITH THE EXCEPTIONS BELOW, we are just switching the May 21st schedule with the May 14 schedule. SO - follow what is written on the schedule for 5/21 ON 5/14 and 5/14 ON 5/21.

HOWEVER, this change will NOT APPLY to Ms. Julie's AND Ms. Cheri's 9-9:45am and 9:45-10:30am classes. These classes will remain as originally scheduled (these kids are not involved in graduation anyway). ROOMS TBA

ALSO - there WILL be orchestras on 5/14 but NOT 5/21 (Julie is away on 5/21). Don't worry, if your child plays violin and is in the graduation rehearsal, he/she will be done in time to get to orchestra.

Please let Shelley know if you have any questions. (beardshelley@aol.com)

Invitation for an afternoon of Music and Dance

Happy New Year!

Saakshi Navile is performing a solo violin recital, as a fundraising concert for Charity. It's happening on Feb 13th, Sunday at Shipley School at 3 p.m. We will have violin and dance performances about Gavottes ( french folk dancing popularised during the Baroque period). See attached flyer about the program.

We would love for you to attend with family and friends. It would mean great personal encouragement to her, and also support for the cause.

Sudi and I envision this will be first of our many steps, to do good in the world.and not just Saakshi, but with more of our kids working together on something like this in the future,..We have created a "not for profit" organization for this purpose. It's called "Music for Brain Tree" . Here's the event link.

Please contact me confirming your response to the event( including the number of tickets you need). I need to buy tickets to block for the event and I will do the same on your behalf.

We are very thankful for your support and look forward to seeing you there..

Sunita, Sudi and Saakshi
