Violin
We recommend renting for the first year from one of the approved rental companies listed below (list Kots and whatever else you and Jess want to approve). After the first year, it is strongly recommended that you consider purchasing as it is a better overall investment and your child will have the benefit of a higher quality instrument.
You should consider upgrading (in both price and quality) approximately once per year. Because the approved shops below regularly give fair trade in value on instruments purchased from their shops, you can easily increase the quality of your child's instrument with small trade in's over time.
We recommend that by book 2, students use violins on the SNOW brand quality or better (approx $750-1000 for the entire outfit). By book 4, an appropriate quality instrument will be in the neighborhood of $1200-2000 and upwards from there as the level gets higher.
Please consult your teacher BEFORE purchasing any instrument.

UNIFORMS
All Suzuki Academy students are required to have a Suzuki Academy uniform polo shirt, which will be worn at all Suzuki Academy performances and special events. One shirt is included when a student first enrolls; afterward the family must purchase replacement or additional shirts for $15 each.
REQUIRED MATERIALS
The following materials are required for all students and are available from Shar Music:
- Suzuki Book and CD for the appropriate instrument and level
- “Nurtured By Love” by Shinichi Suzuki
- Theory book (details will be provided by theory teacher)
